Brief Summary: On 05/14/2023, the Anderson Police were in the area of 16th and Madison
Avenue monitoring a large crowd that had gathered when an altercation broke out, and
several gunshots were heard. Officers quickly responded and pushed into the crowd, locating
a victim who had been shot in the leg. Officers promptly took life-saving measures by
applying a tourniquet to slow the bleeding. The victim was ultimately transported to an
Indianapolis hospital and remains in stable condition. During the investigation, five additional
victims checked themselves into our local Anderson hospitals for treatment with gunshot
wounds, all of whom suffered minor injuries and have been treated and released. Detectives
have been collecting evidence over the past several hours and have spoken with multiple
witnesses, and will continue to do so. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. At this time, we will not be releasing the names of all those involved but will
