It's Spooky season, and there is no secret when you look around the stores and drive around town. Here is a list of events going on this weekend! If your children attend Anderson Community School Corporation we wanted to remind you that Monday, November 1st, 2021 is also an E-Learning day.
A.P.D. Trunk or Treat

Once again our Anderson Police Department will host our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat. This year they are back again on Meridian Street, after last year’s successful drive-through event. The event will be held on October 29 beginning at 6:00 pm and will last until the candy and treats are gone!! Wear your favorite costume and come early as the line forms quickly. Anderson's trick or treating times for Sunday 10/31/2021 are from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM If you know of more events, please leave a comment so we can add them to this post!

Harrah's Trunk or Treat
Come out & enjoy Fright Night at the Races at Harrah's Hoosier Park! The evening will feature an annual Trunk or Treat! Don’t miss the much-anticipated horse costume contest, FREE pumpkins, FREE pumpkin decorating station, FREE candy, championship live racing, food specials, a DJ, and more! Turn Away No Longer, Inc will be passing out candy to the kids! Come out and have some fun. This is on 10/30/2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Safety Tips to remember when trick or treating.
Plan your route before you leave the house and make sure someone else knows where you are going. Wear reflective or light-colored clothing so you can be seen. Carry a torch to check what's around you and avoid falling over. Stay close to home and if possible only visit the houses of people you know.
Never allow small children to carve pumpkins. Children can draw a face with markers. Then parents can do the cutting. For the best control, while carving, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (AAHS) recommends adults use a small pumpkin saw (sold with other Halloween goods) in small strokes, directing the blade away from themself and others. The AAHS advises against using larger blades, which can become lodged in the pumpkin and cause injuries when pulled out
Consider using a flashlight or glow stick instead of a candle to light your pumpkin. If you do use a candle, a votive candle is safest. Do not place candlelit pumpkins on a porch or any path where visitors may pass close by. They should never be left unattended. Remove tripping hazards to keep your home safe for visiting trick-or-treaters. Keep the porch and front yard clear of anything a child could trip over such as garden hoses, toys, bikes, and lawn decorations. Check outdoor lights and replace burned-out bulbs. Sweep wet leaves from sidewalks and steps to prevent anyone from slipping on them. Restrain pets so they do not jump on or bite a trick-or-treater. For goodies that are wrapped, parents should check the label for ingredients their child might be allergic to, such as peanuts or wheat. Candy packaging should also be searched for signs of tampering including rips, tears, or tiny pinholes. Odd appearance or discoloration is also a red flag, experts say. If in doubt throw it out!
