Arrest Made From a Shooting That Occured In Elwood

The shooting occurred on July 14th, 2021 in Elwood. 18-year-old shooting victim A. Harnish was shot in the back twice and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Elwood. The shooting was a result of an argument that happened at s residence in the 2400 block of South H Street. A warrant was issued back in August of 2021 and was served on Monday 4/18/2022. Cox is charged with Aggravated Battery Use when the assault poses a substantial risk of death., a felony-level three, Criminal Confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, also a felony-level three, and Pointing a Firearm at Another, a felony-level six.
Level 3 Felony: A Level 3 felony carries a penalty upon conviction of a fixed term between three (3) and sixteen (16) years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00
Level 6 Felony: A Level 6 felony is the lowest level of felony in Indiana. It carries a penalty upon conviction of a fixed term between six (6) months and two and one half (2 1/2) years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00.
Cox is being held at the Madison County Jail, no trial date has been set and he is being held on a $20,000.00 full cash bond. as more information develops, we will update this story.
