Car VS Train Crash - Fatal Accident - 10/24/2022

At 3:27 P.M. today, the Madison County Dispatch learned about a traffic accident that happened on Superior Street at the railroad tracks by Sycamore Street. We do not know the identity of the driver of the Dodge Avenger, but we can confirm it was a fatal accident. We do not know the details of why this happened, but we can confirm there are no crossing arms at that particular intersection. However, there are crossing lights. This is a developing story, and we will bring more information when it becomes available. The Sheriff's Department is still conducting its investigation.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal train crash in Orestes that occurred on 10/24/2022 at approximately 3:27 pm. The crash occurred on the Superior St. crossing south of Oak St. An eastbound Norfolk Southern train struck the front driver’s side of a northbound 2012 Dodge Avenger, killing the 31-year-old Anderson man. Orestes PD, Alexandria Fire/EMS, and EMA assisted.
