Death Penalty Sought For Accused Cop Killer

Live Stream Video Uploaded with enhanced audio.

On today's date, the Madison County Prosecutor's Office filed a Request for Death Sentence in State of Indiana v. Carl Roy Webb Boards Il for the murder of Elwood Police Officer Noah Shahnavaz by alleging, pursuant to Indiana Code section 35-50-2-9(b)(O)(A), that the victim of the murder was a law enforcement officer and was acting in the course of his duty.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed on July 31, 2022, Elwood Police Officer Noah Shahnavaz conducted a traffic stop near County Road 1000 North and State Road 37 in Madison County, Indiana, on a white Buick Lacrosse owned and occupied by the Defendant. It is alleged that the Defendant immediately exited the vehicle and fired at least 36 rounds from an AK-47 type rifle with a high-capacity magazine, which resulted in Officer Shahnavaz's death. The Defendant was apprehended a short time later after a vehicle pursuit. It is important to remember that any allegation of a crime, an arrest, and/or the filing of a criminal charge is simply an allegation and is not evidence of guilt. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
