Fatal Crash on State Road 9 (12/09/2022)

On 12/9/2022 at 0924 hours, Madison County Central Dispatch received a call of a serious injury crash on S.R. 9, near C.R. 1700N. Units responded to find a FedEx Ground delivery truck and a Buick Envision SUV involved in a head-on crash. Van Buren Township Fire / EMS responded and determined that the operator of the Buick was deceased. The operator of the FedEx truck was transported to Community Hospital with head injuries.

Evidence at the scene shows the northbound Buick run off the right side of the roadway, driving for hundreds of feet in the ditch before returning to the pavement, crossing the centerline, and going into the southbound lane, where it impacted the FedEx truck.
