Lafayette Woman Arrested After Pursuit

Tippecanoe County - Yesterday afternoon around 5:20 p.m., Trooper Miramontes was patrolling northbound on US 52 near County Road 700 South. Trooper Miramontes attempted to catch a 2018 Dodge Durango driven by Monetta Sanders, 40, Lafayette, IN, for traveling southbound on US 52 at 102 mph in a 60 mph zone. As Trooper Miramontes was attempting to catch the vehicle, he radioed to other officers working in the area.
As Sanders continued southbound at a high rate of speed, she passed two other troopers that began to pursue her. Sanders continued southbound on US 52 towards State Road 47. Sanders then turned westbound on State Road 47, where a Thorntown Police Officer had tire deflation devices placed across the road. Sanders stopped before hitting the tire deflation devices and was safely taken into custody. The second occupant in the vehicle was transported from the scene and released. Sanders was transported to Tippecanoe County Jail.

Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle – Level 6 Felony
Aggressive Driving – Class A Misdemeanor
Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor
Trooper Miramontes was assisted on scene by Trooper Decker, Trooper McQueary, Thorntown Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and Zores Towing.
