New Castle Man Arrested On Multiple Felony Charges

(Henry County) Indiana State Police arrested a New Castle, Indiana man at approximately 12:25 a.m. this morning for possession of methamphetamine, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Sergeant Dave Whitinger, Pendleton District, was patrolling U.S. 36 near County Road 100 E. when he noticed a disabled black, 2003 Ford pickup truck being pulled by a tan, 2006 Ford pickup truck. Sergeant Whitinger stopped to assist and recognized the operator of the 2003 Ford as Dalton L. Taylor, 25, 1205 S. 23rd Street, New Castle, Indiana. Sergeant Whitinger had prior knowledge that Taylor had outstanding warrants from Henry County for resisting law enforcement. Sergeant Whitinger requested assistance from Trooper Tom Ratliff and his K-9 partner, Tora.
When Trooper Ratliff and Tora arrived on the scene, Tora conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle, at which point she alerted to the presence of narcotics. Upon further investigation, Trooper Ratliff located approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun.
Dalton L. Taylor, 25, was arrested and preliminarily charged with:
Possession of Methamphetamine, a class "4" felony.
Felon in possession of a firearm, a class "5" felony.
Taylor was taken to the Henry County Jail.
Henry County Sheriff's Office deputies also assisted with the arrest.
