Two Conflicting Opinions
The calls never stop, From car warranties to trinkets, the industry seems out of control. On the other hand, some businesses and charities depend on the practice to find their customers. In a technology-based world, the argument can be the practice is outdated. From January through the first half of October of 2021, 17.3 percent of spam complaints were from business impersonators claiming to be from fraud prevention departments. Indeed, Amazon and Apple are the top impersonated businesses for fake charge complaints.
Opting out of calls on the do not call list seems pointless to many as they said that ever since the pandemic the calls have come in at a more rapid case, and it seems like some of them are not even checking to see if you are on the do not call list. A violation of the Do Not Call (DNC) provision of the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) can be up to $43,280 per call.
Many Businesses Ditch The Practice
Several companies across Indiana and beyond claimed they were ending the telemarketing sector from their business practice. Matt K. a reseller of AT&T products said they have moved their marketing efforts to social interaction. Some companies that have been working with Beyond Web Hosting also said that they went as far as to require inquiries to opt-in on a release if they inquire online and ask for a call.
